A community built around enjoying Railroader
The Flagstaff, Verde & Northern is a fun, welcoming community open to all Railroader players aged 18 and over. Whether you are learning your first switching move or already comfortable running a busy railroad, there is a place for you here.
We enjoy working together, learning from one another, and bringing a railroad to life. You do not need real-world railroad experience to join. Bring an interest in trains, respect for your fellow players, and a willingness to communicate and learn.
OUR SETTING
What could have been
The FV&N is a fictional reimagining of Arizona railroad history. Our 1958 setting draws inspiration from the places, landscapes, and industries of northern Arizona, then asks what might have happened if a different railroad had connected them.
Our story begins in the closing years of the steam era, as first-generation diesels start to share the rails with steam locomotives. The railroad will evolve over time, with new routes, industries, and equipment shaping the next chapters of the FV&N.
Steam locomotives work timber, agricultural, and copper traffic between Flagstaff and the Verde Valley. Our routes, customers, and railroad story blend historical inspiration with creative license—including a United Verde mine that remains active in our version of history.
This is our imagined railroad, rather than a claim that the FV&N or its complete operating network existed.
HOW WE PLAY
Shared work, shared enjoyment
Some players enjoy switching industries. Others prefer road freight, yard work, or dispatching. Those jobs fit together, giving everyone a part in the session.
Our operating guides, crew tablet, dispatcher desk, and live map help us coordinate. The purpose is to make cooperative play more enjoyable. Questions are welcome, and learning the railroad is part of the experience.
